Rachel's Challenge

Rachel's Challenge start a chain reaction

Rachel’s Challenge Community Meetings

Please join Roanoke County and Salem City Public Schools for an important community meeting about Rachel’s Challenge, a new initiative we are embarking upon to create a climate of kindness and compassion among our students. Rachel’s Challenge is a nationwide effort to help students stand up against bullying and unkindness to others.

We need your help and your involvement. Please attend one of two community meetings to hear Darrell Scott tell the inspirational story of his daughter, Rachel, the fi rst student killed in the Columbine High School tragedy and how her legacy can help our students start a chain reaction of kindness and respect to overcome bullying.

Bullying in our schools is an age-old problem. At William Byrd Middle School a task force is bringing new awareness to the problem and offering solutions.
